Group Theory With Fruits is a product that teaches Abstract Algebra in a way that students as young as fourth grade can understand. Abstract Algebra is an immensely useful, powerful and beautiful area of math that most students unfortunately never get to see or experience. Usually it is a subject only learned by students studying to become mathematicians in their junior or senior year in college.
Dr. Wang's goal in this product is to take the important and essential concepts of Group Theory, which is a central topic in the study of Abstract Algebra, and teach it in an intuitive, fun, and engaging way. "My belief," says Dr. Wang, "is that students who learn Abstract Algebra will be able to gain a fuller and deeper understanding of the math they are learning in school. specially-labeled manipulative, Dr. Wang begins to introduce underlying concepts of mathematics that will deepen your
students' understanding of the math that they are learning in class.

History of Group Theory With Fruits
Group Theory With Fruits is a product of many years of development and testing. Before it was produced and released,
it already had a long and interesting history.
Dr. Wang says, "In 1984, I was taking a course in Abstract Algebra at Princeton University as a sophomore math major and wondered how I could relate what I was learning in class to much younger students. To me, the material revealed the power and beauty of math but was being taught in a way that made it inaccessible to all but a few mathematics majors."
On a bet from fellow students, Dr. Wang developed a method of teaching the basic concepts of Group Theory and successfully taught it to a collection of elementary school students on live cable TV.
Excited by the encouraging results, Dr. Wang presented the material to a conference of math teachers in Illinois. In the audience of his presentation was one Waleed Rehani. He was so excited by the results that he looked for Dr. Wang at subsequent conferences for years afterward. When Wang Education finally announced the upcoming release of Group Theory With Fruits, our newly opened office received a phone call almost immediately from Mr. Rehani, now math curriculum coordinator for William G. Hibberd elementary school in Chicago. After several excited exchanges, Dr. Wang was invited to teach Group Theory With Fruits to several classes in Mr. Rehani's school. Afterward, Dr. Wang got a chance to sit down and talk with Mr. Rehani to find out his unique experience with Abstract Algebra and Group Theory With Fruits.
